Synopsis
It Ain’t Over: Fat Photos and Politics of Size is book dedicated to creating positive images of fat women. The project began out of a desire to continue working with a few close friends of mine - to explore their politics through another avenue, it then became an exploration of the actual photo shoots I did with each woman I photographed. I developed a relationship first, collaboratively came up with an idea for the shoot, and finally, asked each person to respond to their own images. This is the text that appears throughout the book. As a fat ally and an artist/activist I will continue to work with women to find new arenas for their work and continue to fight against the process of marginalization that constantly represents fat women as the ‘before’ picture in diet ads. |
